Have you wondered if there is a natural alternative to commercially avaliable throat lozenges? Here's a recipe that you can whip up yourself in under 3 minutes, and even store for next time!
I've found this is the best way to get Vitamin C into my toddler during bouts of colds, or even just if we've been around bugs! Plus it tastes delicious! I normally make a half-batch of this for my 2 year old, and a full batch for myself or my husband.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- 1 capsule vitamin C, or 1 tsp of vitamin C powder
- 1/4 tsp herb/spice powder - can mix any immune boosting herbs/spices - my favourite combo is cinnamon & ginger. Some other great ones are powdered sage, cloves, marshmallow root, or powdered echinacea.
Simply put all the ingredients together in a small mug or ramekin with a small spoon. Open the vitamin C capsule if using a capsule, emptying the contents in the bowl. You can compost the empty capsule, or save it to fill up with something else later.
Then mix and eat, letting it coat & soothe your throat!
