Natural sunscreen that's safe & good for your skin! Not only does it protect against sunburn, but the gorgeous oils in it also protect against wind burn!
This is the stronger version of our sunscreen which has been independently clinically tested achieving a final SPF rating of 96, with broad spectrum coverage against both UVA & UVB rays.
This sunscreen uses zinc oxide as well as natural oils that naturally provide a barrier from the suns rays, rather than using chemicals which react with your skin and can cross into your tissue.
Zinc oxide is the only reccomended safe broad spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UVA & UVB rays. It is also the only FDA recommended sunscreen for babies under 6 months of age.
All ingredients are 100% natural, and organic where possible. This makes this sunscreen safe to use on babies, people with sensitive skin, and anyone who wants to cut down the amount of harmful toxins in their life! Safe to use on face & body.
Comes in a glass jar. We don't bulk our product up with water.
Spreads well, so a little goes a long way. One large jar will generally last our family the whole season, however we do find that this sunscreen spreads easier than our others, which can mean you can go through it faster, especially if it's being applied by someone not used to applying sunscreen that is not bulked up with water, such as at preschool.
This sunscreen goes on 100% clear.
Plus, it smells divine, and moisturises well too.
We also have empty tins for you to use if you'd like to buy a larger size jar, and then fill up your own tins for in the car, in the nappy bag, in the handbag, in the preschool bag, etc.
Ingredients: Jojoba Oil, Zinc Oxide, Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Organic NZ Beeswax.
Our sunscreen can also be found at the following locations. Some of these retailers also operate online:
Make sure to test patch on skin first. If any irritation occurs, discontinue use. Bee products and coconut oil would be the most likely culprits so we'd recommend further allergy testing around these.
The Cancer Society recommendation with any sunscreen is to re-apply every two hours, and after getting out of water due to rub-off.
Becuase zinc oxide forms a physical barrier, not a chemical one, it theoretically works as soon as applied. However legally our label must tell you to wait 20 minutes before going into the sun.
Staying in the shade is however still the most effective method of sun protection for people of all ages.
If you are looking for the sunscreen that used to be called "Regular Sunscreen", we no longer manufacture this one, but the former 'Kawakawa Sunscreen' (now called 'Kawakawa Outdoor Balm') is the same recipe, with the addition of Kawakawa. This makes it skin-healing and mildly insect repelling at the same time. It also uses a more affordable zinc, which can make it a better option for everyday use in the garden.
Independently tested to and compliant with AS/NZS Standard 2604:2012 and ISO 24443.
