Tea tree oil is unusual in that it is effective against all three varieties of infectious organisms: bacterial, fungal, and viruses. It's also a very powerful immuno-stimulant, so when the body is threatened, tea tree increases the bodies ability to respond.
It is anti-infectious, anti-inflamatory, antiseptic, antiviral, bactericidal, balsamic, cicatrisant, diaphoretic, expectorant, anti-fungal, immuno-stimulant, parasiticide, vulnerary.
This gives tea tree oil many uses, such as:
Skin: Abcess, acne, athlete's foot, blisters, burns, cold sores, dandruff, herpes, insect bites, oily skin, rashes, spots, veruccae, warts, infected wounds.
Respiratory: Asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, coughs, sinusitis, tuberculosis, whooping cough.
Genito-Urinary System: Thrush, cystitis, pruritis.
Immune System: Colds, fever, flu, infectious illnesses such as chickenpox.
Tea tree oil is safe for children aged 3 months +. It is safe to use during pregnancy (Avoid in first trimester, or consult your medical practitioner), and safe to use during breastfeeding.

3-12 months: No more than 0.5%
1 - 2 years: No more than 1%
2 - 6 years: 2% - up to 5% ok for occasional use.
6 - 10 years: 2% - up to 10% for occasional use.
10 years +: 2% up to 25% for occasional use.
